Mike Snyder is the victim of a murder. However, his wife Ellen led everyone to believe he was alive, until a tip brought authorities back to their home where Mike was buried.

A report on autopsy confirmed that the body had been shot. Ellen, Mike’s spouse, was arrested on February 5, 2010 for his death. A son of the couple later revealed what he had known about the incident.

Ellen recalled in her statement the events that evening, saying “I started shooting… I shot at the wall. I shot the television. “I shot the floor.”

Ellen’s 17-year old son called the police but Ellen convinced her to not call. She then left Mike’s dead body, covered in a comforter, on the floor of the hallway. Ellen used a backhoe in her backyard to dig a hole and then forced Michael to assist her.

Ellen also pleaded guilty for tax fraud, tampering evidence and voluntary manslaughter, with an enhancement of a firearm, in connection with Michael’s death.

Ellen Synder received the maximum possible sentence in the case of Mike Synder. She was sentenced to eleven years behind bars.

Ellen was eligible to receive parole in 2018. Ellen was reportedly released and returned to North Albuquerque Acres where she lived a quiet life.

Ellen’s current status is unknown, as she has kept a high level of privacy and no media outlet has reported on her lifestyle.
