Colton Bond’s Obituary and Death Cause: The Family Laments the Loss

Colton Bond from Edna, along with his grandparents Jimmy Bond and Barbara Bond died in a car accident on Friday evening.

Three residents of Edna, Kansas, were instantly killed when their truck hit a cow on the 26th May 2023 just after 11:15 pm in Labette County.

The accident happened on U.S. Highway 166 six miles east from U.S.

According to Kansas Highway Patrol, Jimmy Bond was 81 when he hit a cow while driving east on Kansas Highway 166.

This led to the vehicle failing. His truck then swerved in the opposite lane.

Colton Bond, a young cowboy, died with his grandparents Jimmy and Barbara Bond.

The other driver attempted to avoid Bond’s truck, but failed. The truck and other vehicle then collided. The 81-year old was travelling with two members of his family – his granddaughter, Colton Bond (21), and his wife Barbara Bond (79).

Colton Bond and Jimmy Bond were declared dead on the spot. Barabara Bond was also pronounced deceased. According to reports, the other driver suffered minor injuries.

Tagg, a 21-year old college cowboy, was watching his little sister compete at the Kansas High School Rodeo Association finals in Mulvane with his grandparents and grandmother.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Colton Bond’s grandfather was driving his truck on U.S. Highway 166 eastbound when it hit a cow, which pushed the vehicle in the westbound lane.

A semi driver heading west tried to avoid a collision with Bonds but ran out of time. This led to a head-on crash.

Who was Colton Bond?

Colton Bond, a young and talented cowboy, qualified for the inaugural National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association College National Finals Steer Roping Medico topics.

Colton Bond is also a rising horse trainer.

From 2020 to 22, the young cowboy competed in rodeo events with the Garden City Community College Rodeo Team. Bond competed at the Coffeyville Rodeo this year.

The young man finished eighth in the team roping regional standings at the end the year. In November, he competed in a steer roping competition that was newly created. He placed 13th in the nation and earned a place in the National Finals Steer Roping College.

He won the state tie-down title in 2019 Kansas High School Rodeo Association and the team roping championship for 2020.

The death of Tagg’s mother, Kelly, his father, Jim Tom and little brother Tagg has devastated them. The Bond family has launched a GoFundMe to help them cope with this devastating loss.
